There will be no more night . They will not need the light of the lamp or the light of the sun for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. Rev. 22:5 (NIV)
COMMENT: Jesus Christ said he is the light of the world and as he is the same as the Father, God is the source of real light. Light here means more than the opposite of darkness as we know it. Light is life, spiritual life (zoe). It is the eternal life of God which has no beginning and no end. It is God himself and so beyond our understanding unless he is revealed by the Holy Spirit.
God's light is himself and as he is in the New Jerusalem, there will be no need for other lights. God as light is totally adequate.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit! I need God's light to enable me teach the word of God. Give me the light.
