SATAN SLANDERS SAINTS

REF: Job 1:9-11

“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. Vs 9

“Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? Vs 10

You have blessed the work of his hands so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”Vs 11

COMMENT:

Satan appears in heaven when the Angels are doing the same. He still has some privileges to visit heaven to accuse the brethren (those born again and so don’t belong to him). One of his titles is AOB. Not any other business, but, the accuser of brethren.  He is actually the prosecutor and the Lord Jesus is the advocate. Jesus has paid all our debts even the ones not yet acquired. The only thing we are supposed to do is to accept the charge if we have sinned and plead for forgiveness and our advocate begins his work. He stands up at the bench and in front of the Judge (God Almighty) and admits it is true we have sinned. He goes ahead and states that he has taken full responsibility and has paid the full fine by his atoning blood. The scars on his hands are the exhibit. The judge then dismisses the case.

Satan in this case of Job, provoked God by claiming that Job was not obedient to God. He claimed that Job’s reason for obedience and love for God emanated from the favour God had given him. Satan went on to claim that if Job’s family and property were destroyed, Job would curse God to his face.

God in this situation permitted Satan to attack Job and everything he owned was destroyed. All his seven sons and three daughters were violently killed. It was impossible for Job to understand the reason behind what was happening but he retained his integrity. The bible says he fell on the ground in worship and said:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” Job 1:21

PRAYER: Holy Spirit! Help us to do as Job did: ‘In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.”
