COMMENT:
God Almighty is sovereign and therefore can do
what He may choose to do whether we are good or bad; born-again or not. He has
supreme authority over us and therefore can do anything in order to teach us
something. Whatever he does, is always
for our good eventually. His ways are not our ways and He knows better than we
do regarding our future. Jeremiah 1:5 says; Before I formed you in the womb I
knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to
the nations.”
God leads us
into temptation and testing but He doesn’t do it Himself. In most cases He uses
our enemy the devil just as He did in the case of His son Jesus Christ. The bible
says Jesus was led by the Spirit (Holy Spirit) into the desert to be tempted by
Satan. This happened just before His public ministry begun. He proved powerful
in every way and therefore he was released to wage war against the enemy.
Jesus taught
us to pray saying; Lead us not into temptation, in the famous Lord’s Prayer.
He wanted us to understand that no temptation can come to us without God’s
permission and that in fact he leads us to the testing and for a good reason.
God made us
in His own image. He purposed to make a moral being with God’s attributes. He
did not want a puppet but a being that can make independent decisions and carry
out his plans to full satisfaction.
A creature
with these kinds of abilities must be allowed to face tests in order to know
the right from the wrong. These abilities carry heavy responsibilities hence
the tests and finally punishment for choosing to disobey.
The fact
that God is able to create, He owns whatever he creates. He has the power to
make and destroy. The ability and authority to maintain in whatever form He may
choose, are exclusively His.
PRAYER: Holy
Spirit! We are grateful to know that you allow bad things to happen to us and
you have a good reason for that. Thank you, God Almighty.
