MALARIA (PESTILENCES)

REF: Matthew 24:7 and Luke 21:11

For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places. Matthew 24:7(NKJV)

And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. Luke 21:11(NKJV)

COMMENT:

“Mbu” a Kiswahili word meaning mosquito is sometimes confused with the word “mbwa” meaning dog. I attended a Christian fellowship some years back in a small church in a mosquito infested town of Isiolo about 200 kilometers north of Nairobi. Two prayer requests were made at the beginning of the fellowship by two middle aged women. One requested a prayer about her dogs that had attacked neighbours and they had taken the matter to a local Chief. The other woman requested prayers about an army of mosquitoes that were threatening her family health. Malaria fever was continuously attacking her family and the neighbours. They had tried everything they could do to eliminate the insects but they had failed.

The fellowship leader confused mosquito (mbu) and dog (mbwa) and therefore sought clarification. People were amused and all agreed that mbwa problem was easier to solve than mbu, despite his small size. War on mosquitoes is a nightmare. A serious prayer was offered regarding the two enemies and the end result was left to God.

Please dear reader! Note that mosquitoes have killed millions of human beings and continue to do so even today. More people have died as a result of mosquito-borne diseases than all the wars that have been experienced in the world.

Jesus in his prophesy as recorded in Matthew 24:7 and Luke 21:11 mentioned diseases (pestilences) saying this will be witnessed on earth before he returns. Since the use of DDT(wonderful insect killer harmless to mankind) was banned all over the world in a conspiracy manner about 30 years ago, mosquitoes received a licence to kill. Mosquito (mbu) is the James Bond of today. As if the licence is not adequate, the same dreaded insect received a boost. He has gone through genetic modification. He is now bigger in size and can easily reproduce in a single drop of water and live comfortably in high altitude of Nairobi and Harare.  Al Gore says the cause is global warming in high altitude areas but it not true according to real scientists.

In the 1970s, people living in high altitude cities of the tropics, did not need to use mosquito-nets but today you cannot survive without a net covering your bed at night. Mosquito-nets are under suspicion that they are likely to be carrying some harmful chemicals like the famous smallpox blankets given to unsuspecting Indians. You know what happened to the Indians. No wonder some NGOs are distributing the nets generously with a lot of zeal.

According to the prophesy, pestilences (diseases) will continue to attack man and what we are required to do is to fight the disease not to do the opposite. Human life is precious and must be preserved at all cost. We are created in the image of God and not the ape. We did not evolve as the famous Dr Leakey would like us to believe. Lake Turkana is not at all the cradle of man.

Finally, to fight (mbu) mosquito, please use a fly-whisk as was used by the first president of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. He carried it everywhere he went as a symbol of authority. It’s work is to kill insects especially flies and mosquitoes. You can pray for the fly-whisk  to break any connection to spirits of any nature, if you think there is need.
