TRUST NO MAN INCLUDING YOURSELF

REF: Jeremiah 17:5, 9 and Romans 3:22-24 (NIV)

This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5.
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:22-24

COMMENT:

In summary, these scriptures mean that we must not rely on ourselves. We are supposed to tap all our resources from God through the Lord Jesus Christ who has accomplished everything. We are to exercise our faith in Christ who has done everything in connecting us to God Almighty. He has made it possible for us to become the children of God. Not all mankind are the children of God, however, but all are the creation of God. Being the children of God is one step higher than the creation. You need to believe in Jesus and welcome him into your heart and also make him your Lord. Spiritually, he will come in your heart and make you his home. In the same way, he will put you at his level and you will be able to say like Paul that, ‘it is no longer me who lives but it is Christ.” Physically we are still in this world but spiritually, we are not. We are already in heaven seated with Christ. Refer to Philippians 3:20 and Ephesians 2:6.

Now that we are not only on earth, but also in heaven, we are required to reflect on heaven more. When we pray, we don’t only ask, but also give thanks because we have already received what we have asked for.  We must spend more time giving thanks and loving God because we now have a special relationship with Jesus. Everything  we need is already done. What we are now waiting for is the actualization of the things prayed for in faith. If it is healing, for example, Jesus obtained it about 2000 years ago. In the same manner, he achieved everything else. All we need to do, is to receive in faith and give thanks.

The grace of God is adequate and through our faith in what Jesus has already accomplished, we have become the righteousness of God. We are the saints of God through Jesus. It is Jesus Christ who never committed any sin and therefore is holy and through our faith in him, we have also become holy. We dwell in him and in return he also dwells in us. We have become one with Christ Jesus. The bible says we are hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3.

In ordinary Christian life, we may experience failure in some areas, but that is not what is supposed to happen. We may earn the curse of God when we begin to trust in ourselves or other people, instead of God. It is like rejecting God yet we think we are depending on him. We are supposed to follow the Spirit and not the law. The moment we start to depend on the law, we cannot at the same time depend on the grace of God.

We are holy and righteous. That is, without sin or fault. We are SAINTS as long as we continue to spiritually dwell and depend on Jesus Christ who has accomplished all. By faith, we need to rest in Jesus’ grace.
